SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an email safety system, which is employed to confirm whether an email message is sent by an official server. Employing SPF protection for a particular domain name will stop the faking of email addresses generated with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this feature for a domain name generates a particular record in the Domain Name System (DNS) that contains the IP addresses of the servers that are allowed to send emails from mail boxes using the domain. As soon as this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all of the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. When an email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses checks whether it originates from an authorized server. In the event it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, however if it does not come from a server part of the SPF record for the domain, it's discarded. Thus nobody will mask an email address and make it appear as if you are e-mailing spam messages. This technique is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain hosted in a shared hosting account on our cloud platform with only a few mouse-clicks. The function is accessible in the Emails section of our hi-tech Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to enable it is to pick one of your domain names from the drop-down list and to type in the hostnames together with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be certified to send emails from your email addresses. As an additional option you can even restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only if it has our MX records, i.e. if our servers handle the email addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This solution will provide you with the best standard of security, but it is not applicable in case only your web site is on our servers while the e-mail addresses for the domain are taken care of in a different place. In either case, the SPF protection service will keep your email addresses safe from being used for spam and/or scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection feature is available with all of the Linux semi-dedicated hosting, so when you host your domains in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you will be able to use this service easily for any of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a very intuitive interface, so you do not need to be proficient in the use of computers to secure your email addresses. You'll only need to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be certified to send out e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be activated for the domain that you have picked. As an additional option, we also give you the ability to limit your outgoing e-mail messages and protect your mailboxes even better by permitting emails to be sent only if the domain name involved contains our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name have to be taken care of here and not by another supplier. Thus you will have even superior control and there will not be any chance for someone to fake your e-mail addresses for malicious purposes.
