Whois Privacy Protection, sometimes also referred to as WHOIS or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that conceals the actual contact info of domain owners on WHOIS check web sites. Without this service, the personal name, postal address and email account of any domain name registrant will be publicly accessible. Giving false info during the domain registration process or changing the authentic information at a later time will simply not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain registrant losing their domain ownership rights. The policies adopted by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers, require that the WHOIS info must be correct and accurate all the time. The Whois Privacy Protection service was launched by registrars as an answer to the increasing concerns for potential identity fraud. If the service is activated, the domain name registrar’s contact details will show up instead of the registrant’s upon a WHOIS lookup. Most domain names support the Whois Privacy Protection service, although there are certain country-code extensions that don’t.

Whois Privacy Protection in Shared Hosting

If you get a shared hosting plan from us, you will be able to activate Whois Privacy Protection for any of your domain names in case their extensions support the service. The process is really easy – once you sign in, you will need to go to the Registered Domains section where you will see a list of all the domains that you have registered with us. Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

Ordering Whois Privacy Protection for any domain is surprisingly easy in case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server. If the domain name is registered with us, it will be displayed in the Registered Domains section of the Hepsia hosting Control Panel that is included with every semi-dedicated plan. If a given generic or country-code top-level domain name supports Whois Privacy Protection, you will see a tiny button on the right-hand side of that domain. To enable the service, you’ll need to click on it. In the exact same way, you can also renew or remove the service. You can activate Whois Privacy Protection for a domain during the account order process as well, but since the service is optional, we will give you the opportunity to add it to any of your domains at a later point in time if you think things over and decide to hide your personal info from the general public after you’ve already ordered the account.
